A group exhibition featuring dogs in print, painting, photography and sculpture.
LA MOTTA Fine Art presents a summer group exhibition featuring images of dogs in print, painting, photography and sculpture. Titled, Just Dogs, the exhibition opens on Saturday, July 26th and continues through Friday, August 22nd. An opening reception takes place on Saturday, July 26th from 2-5 pm. The reception is free and open to the public, and dogs are welcome.
Just Dogs celebrates the appeal of the dog as a visual image and its varied use in contemporary art. Among the artists in the exhibition are Leslie Enders Lee (New York), whose color-saturated inkjet prints often feature her pet Vizslas (Hungarian pointers), the same dog that Bill Bonecutter (New York) depicts in his hooked rug /fireplace screens, that combine art, craft and function. The dog portraits of Eric Ginsburg (New York) are direct and frontal with an incisive approach to their subjects that is reminiscent of the portrait work of Alice Neel. Gary Steinborn (California) is a ceramic artist who creates iconic dog forms that synthesize influences ranging from the heritage of the American crafts movement to funk and pop art. In addition to the selection of contemporary paintings, photography, collage and prints, the exhibition will also include vintage dog prints from the 1880’s.
